A few weeks ago, I discussed in a blog post the introduction of 2012 political ad campaigns to TV audiences across America.  Since then, candidate television spots have only increased.  Yesterday, those political ad campaigns started turning ugly.

Fox News released an article today outlining an anti-Obama TV commercial that predicts "a stark economy in 2017 if the president is re-elected."  According to the article, the ad is sponsored by the Republican National Committee, and conveys the committee's economic "Change Direction" theme.

Take a look at the ad that portrays a grim economic future for America:

Whether or not you agree with the Republican National Committee's message, it begs the question: Is negative political campaigning effective? A 2004 poll conducted by the Marist College Institute for Public Opinion found that 58% of Americans thought that the 2004 presidential candidates "spent more time attacking each other rather than speaking about the issues." Indeed, throughout history, Americans have felt slighted by candidates who do not discuss important affairs.

Will the new anti-Obama ad spark support for Republicans?  Or will Americans feel upset that Republicans have stooped to a low this early in the campaign season?  We're eager to see how this pans out!
