Wow, it's just been a few hectic weeks here at Motivators, so much so that I have absolutely no time to recap my absolutely favorite shows. It's still crazy and everythings busy in the world of promotional products. Anthony and I recently worked on a podcast about our favorite promotional products, which will be up on our promotional products podcast page shortly. We've got a focus group going for a new custom mug that we're testing out here in the office, and then there's all the other general stuff that needs to get done on a daily basis. But I'm sneaking away from all that to take a moment to talk about the awesome and the not so awesome finale recaps that have happened!
Heroes
They always save the best for last. Would a major character be killed off? Would Sylar be stopped? The answer to both of those questions was….YES….kind of. Maybe it’s the recession but Heroes didn’t have it in them to leave an actor unemployed, thus while Nathan Petrelli was TECHNICALLY killed off and Sylar was TECHNICALLY stopped Sylar absorbed Nathan’s memoried, and shape shifted into Nathan. Leaving both of them, technically, alive and well going into next season and both actors with a job. Overall Grade: B
Big Bang Theory
Great show, just not one you would expect a big, epic season finale from. That being said they did a real good job of creating an interesting storyline, wrapping up a season, but leaving fans wanting just a little bit more. Sheldon gets chosen to go on an Arctic Expedition for, “ironically”, the summer and who else would he trust as his team? Of course Leonard and friends. We learn in the episode Penny may have feelings for Leonard and the episode ends with them in their Arctic apartment eating just add water Thai food and watching movies. Simple and effective. Overall Grade: A-
How I Met Your Mother
We finally got a reveal as to why Ted meeting Stella on that street corner was important. Barney and Robin danced around their true feelings for a little bit, finally settling with a passionate kiss and the agreement that they'll discuss their feelings later. No big storyline for Marshall and Lily. Overall Grade: B
NCIS
Not enough McGee action for my liking, but exec producer Shane Brennan had been touting all along that this would be a TIVA (that would be Tony+Ziva) heavy finale and boy was it ever. Brilliant performances by Michael Weatherly and Cote dePablo as they both struggled with their respective feelings for one another. When fans want two characters together, writers are left with a tough choice. Will they or won't they? Bravo to Shane Brennan and the team for creating a dynamic between the two, that was simple yet powerful. Favorite scene: Tony admitting that he killed Mossad operative Michael Rivkin for Ziva, because he was playing her. The simple delivery of the line "I did it for you" gave me chills. And of course, there was the ending that left fans wondering not only will Ziva be alright, but what will Tony do when he finds out? Overall Grade: A+
Bones
Another character heavy hookup occured between the dynamic duo of forensic anthropologist extraordinaire Temperance Brennan and extra special Special Agent Seely Booth on Fox's Bones. Well, kind of. In what Hart Hanson tweeted to be a "meeting of two minds" fans were treated to seeing an alternate universe where Bones and Booth were married nightclub owners. It was another way of avoiding the Moonlighting syndrome (two characters hook up, ratings go down the toilet), but it gave fans what they wanted. Certain fans are happy, certain others were furious. Best fan observation: "Why do they insist like dressing Booth up like Sky Masterson?" (I concur, white shoes were a bit much). Best line of the episode: Vincent: "I wouldn't survive in prison. I'm lovely." I'm even touting a Facebook flair button with that quote on my profile. :) Most Disappointing Moment: The fact that the show technically ran over by about 15 seconds causing several DVRs (at least those on DirecTV) to miss the huge cliffhanger ending where Booth, awakened from his coma, looks at Bones and asks "Who Are You?" Overall Grade: A
Hells Kitchen
Danny won. Lacey whined. All that needs to be said. Overall Grade: A+
