As someone who has previously taught ESL (English as a second language) classes, I found this New York State Lottery commercial particularly hilarious.  I'm sure some people might say its offensive, but I assure you, its really not.  English, especially American English, is so backwards from every other language in the world that getting an answer like 'monkey' to a simple question is really not so off.  Anyway, this commercial would be served well by random promotional products.  Stuffed monkeys, various imprinted stress balls and custom puzzles would make a great accent to this ad campaign. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RxTHtTar9hY&feature=PlayList&p=ABA1D07AABCB910B&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=26

Anyone that knows me will tell you that I am a spaz.  I often cannot walk across the room without falling over my own two feet.  Needless to say, I am not an athlete. So when watching Scrubs last night, I had to sympathize with J.D. when he fanaticized what his appearance on ESPN's Sportcenter would look like.  Yep, that's pretty much me. The worst athlete in the entire world.

Pointless blog you say? Irrelevant and not about promotional products at all?  Wrong! This just happened to remind me of ESPN's great ad campaign of a few years ago.  This campaign, like many other commercials, featured some of the fun that goes on in the ESPN office.  This commercial featured a indoor sports game that the cubicle jockeys would play during the day, Shelf Ball:

This would be great accompanied with promotional stress balls. Fun campaigns like this leave open the door for memorable tradeshow giveaways.  For instance, create a simple game like this and add a page on your website with the rules of the game. Set up a display of your game at your booth and attract the passersby with a quick game.   Hand our the stress relievers with a link to your wesbite imprinted on them.  Boom!  Instant web traffic and more brand recognition for your logo.  There you go- everything relates back to promotional products eventually!

And just for pure amusement.... I present, the Involuntary Luge.

While this ahead of its time company did not survive the early .com fallout, their advertising certainly did.  I still have my doggie with a microphone sock puppet- these commercials still make me laugh.  Maybe if the company were around today, they would purchase some of our cool pet promotional products http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Si1oCq1hwUY&

This commercial seems to be in pretty heavy rotation out west.  I've never been to a Denny's, but if they ever get promotional giveaways for their new character, I'm there!

Cute babies grab even the most cynical person's attention.  While happy sports fans are easy to egg on, it looks like cute babies might be the way to advertise in this down economy!

For my money, I'd still stick with promotional products, but this is cute nonetheless

Aside from the fact that most people in America these days can not waste money on luxury items, I think this is one of the most disturbing things I've ever seen. It's like the monster under your bed is for real!

So this has nothing to do with promotional products, but I figure someone else besides me would find this a good mid-day laugh:

As the happy owner of two purebred beagles, I have come to learn that no matter how many types and varieties of beagle breeds there may be- they all break down to two categories:

1) The chubby kind who consider any moment of the day not eating or sleeping a complete waste

and

2) The howling hyper kind who will do any thing for attention.

I have one of each, and over the past seven years have learned quite a bit about their personalities. My chubby dog can open my fridge, kitchen cabinets, etc.- anywhere he can get food from.  My hyper dog figured how to unlock the doors of her crate from the inside when she was six months old. So when I saw this video, I was amused, but not at all surprised.

I'm glad my pups aren't quite that adventurous!

Just like any other pet owner, I make sure my pups have collars, leashes, proper dishes... all that fun stuff. And guess what?  Motivators has all of those fun items that you can print your logo and message on!
