How to Charge Your iPod Using Gatorade and an Onion.

I was scrolling through quotes from Family Guy the other day, trying to find the perfect one to put on my facebook profile when I came across one of my favorites. In Peter's attempt to save Brian, he decides to recruit one of the most capable heroes of the mid-eightes. He writes a letter to said hero and it reads as follows.

Dear MacGyver,

Enclosed is a rubber band, a paper clip, and a drinking straw. Please save my dog.

That quote immediately came to mind today when I saw this video recommended for me over on YouTube. According to Household Hacker, one can charge an iPod (or any MP3 device that can be charged via a USB port) using Gatorade and an onion. Of course, it couldn't have been recommended for me yesterday, when my iPod actually died. We've got gatorade in the soda machine and we're 5 minutes away from Stop N Shop, where I could have gotten myself an onion.

I think if Macgyver were still around, this is the kind of thing he'd know how to pull off. But since he's MacGyver, with an iPod, an onion and gatorade he could probably save the world.
