In 1992, I was but a wee little Sarah, just 9 years old. I remember seeing a commercial for a movie about a hockey player who was forced to enter into the world of figure skating with an ice princess as his partner. I didn't go see it in theatres, because my mother was slightly worried about the content. Ironic considering that she took me to see My Cousin Vinny when I was 5, and when the ladies behind us commented on my presence my mother abruptly turned around and said "She's not a child, she's short because she smokes." I digress...
Eventually The Cutting Edge was released on video and we rented it. And then we bought it. And then we bought the soundtrack. And when the DVD version was released, I bought that too. And when the Anniversary DVD was released, I bought that too. You see, The Cutting Edge is my all-time favorite movie. To me, it's an absolute classic. I have it memorized and if you think I'm kidding throw a line at me and see what happens. I can usually pick up pretty much any part. I love that movie. In fact, when I moved into my new apartment, I was feeling a little down. It was the first night and save for college, I'd never lived away from home before. I was flipping channels and that was on. Somehow, I knew everything would be alright.
So needless to say when I found out The Cutting Edge 2: Going For the Gold was coming out, I wanted to be excited. But it was an ABC Family version and the original cast wouldn't be in it. I was not excited.
A few years later, ABC Family was at it again, this time releasing The Cutting Edge 3: Chasing the Dream. I was still not amused.
Finally, I thought that they'd given up and that the franchise had worn thin. But...apparently not. Because why make a 4th when they can just REMAKE THE ENTIRE MOVIE? *cue my heart breaking* There will be a whole Cutting Edge marathon concluding with the final (please God let them mean that) installment. The Cutting Edge: Fire and Ice. And sure, you could be saying but Sarah, Brendan Fehr's on Bones and you love him. And yes, I do. But in my mind and in my heart there will forever be only one Doug Dorsey.
(Fun fact for Anthony: I do respect LOST simply because Terry O'Quinn is in it, and before he was Locke, he was Jack Moseley)
